Although there is no direct train to Alghero, you can take a train to Sassari, which is the nearest major city. From Sassari, you can then take a bus or a taxi to reach Alghero. The train station in Sassari is called Sassari Centrale.


While there are no direct passenger boat services to Alghero, you can take a ferry to Porto Torres, which is approximately 36 kilometers from Alghero. From Porto Torres, you can then take a bus or hire a taxi to reach Alghero.


A convenient way to reach Alghero by bus is to take a coach from Cagliari, the capital city of Sardinia. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and there are multiple departures throughout the day. The bus will drop you off at Alghero bus station, which is centrally located.
