How to get there

Plane

The best way to get to Tawang by plane is to fly to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati and then take a cab to reach Tawang. The airport is well-connected to major cities in India like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bangalore. From Guwahati airport, Tawang is approximately 480 km away and it takes around 14 hours to reach by road.

Car

The best way to reach Tawang by car is by taking the Tezpur-Bomdila-Tawang route. The journey takes approximately 13-14 hours to cover a distance of around 340 km.

Train

Unfortunately, there is no direct train connectivity to Tawang. However, you can take a train to Tezpur railway station which is located around 285 km away from Tawang. From Tezpur, you can take a cab to reach Tawang which takes around 8-9 hours.

Boat

There are no waterways to reach Tawang as it is situated in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh. Therefore, boat transport is not possible.

Bus

There are no direct buses to Tawang. However, you can take a bus to Bomdila which is situated around 180 km from Tawang. From Bomdila, you can hire a cab to reach Tawang which takes around 6-7 hours.
